You can find all current job vacancies via our global job search. Vacancies are only removed once a position has been filled, so you can be sure that our online job postings are up to date.

Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an automatic confirmation of receipt by email. Your application will then be reviewed in detail. If we require additional documents, we will send you a separate email and ask you to upload them via a link. We will endeavor to provide you with feedback on your application within two weeks.

In order to get an initial impression of you during the preselection process, our recruiting team will review your CV and relevant references. In addition to your professional qualifications, we are particularly interested in:

• Your ambitions in the context of education and work
• Your interests and activities outside of work, e.g., social commitment, sports, arts or culture
• Your intercultural interest and experience
• Additional training/qualifications, prizes, awards or scholarships

For selected positions, such as our trainee programs or direct entry into research, the preselection process is supplemented by an online assessment, which we may ask you to complete.

Have you sparked our interest? If so, we may schedule a telephone interview for you with a member of the recruiting team. The telephone interview takes around 30 minutes and allows us to get an initial impression of your personality and skills. We will also be happy to answer any questions you might have at this point.

If you impressed us during the preselection process, your application will be forwarded to the relevant manager. They will ultimately decide if you are invited for an interview.

Last but not least, we would like to get to know you in person. Interviews are typically conducted by the relevant department and can take place either online or in person.

On the day of the interview, the focus is primarily on your specific professional skills and your personality. You will also have the opportunity to meet potential team members and learn more about BASF as an employer.

• Briefly explain your motivation: Why are you applying for this position? Why do you want to work at BASF?
• Share the reasoning behind key decisions: Why did you choose this particular education or degree?
• Highlight your skills using specific examples.
• Talk about what excites you – what you are truly passionate about.
• Whether or not you add a personal touch (like a quote or life motto) is up to you. Ultimately, your qualifications matter most, so keep the focus there. Still, anything that stands out from the norm might leave a lasting impression.

Personal information

• State your salary expectations and your earliest possible start date.
• Indicate your willingness to relocate (e.g., not willing / within the country / to the company’s location, etc.).
• Add details that show who you are as a person (e.g., hobbies, time abroad, volunteer work, part-time jobs).
• You don’t need to include information about your parents, siblings, or spouse, and photos are optional.
• If you choose to include a photo, make sure it is high-quality and professional.

Information on skills and qualifications

• List your language and IT skills, including proficiency levels.
• Include any driver’s licenses, certifications, and/or additional credentials.

Information on professional experience

• Structure your resume in reverse chronological order, starting with your current role, and ensure there are no gaps.
• Indicate the duration and location of each current or previous role and highlight key responsibilities and tasks you were or are responsible for.

• Find a quiet space – ideally, be alone in the room.
• Eliminate distractions (e.g., phone, music, TV).
• Test your tech setup in advance (a headset often helps) and check your lighting.
• Dress appropriately. You can ask your recruiter for guidance on what’s suitable.
• Have a glass of water nearby.
• Keep a pen and paper handy for notes.
• Review the job posting again and prepare some questions.
• Stay up to date on BASF news via press releases, the website, or social media.

Before the interview

• If you’re invited to an in-person interview, please make sure to allow enough time for travel.
• Dress appropriately. Feel free to ask your recruiter what’s expected.
• Take time to review the job posting and your application materials.
